It all began in 1951, when she and Fran Etter announced their presence in a realm traditionally dominated by men, establishing Coleman-Etter, a real estate company that has proved extremely successful. These two women became the first women to own a local real estate company, and their determination forged a path for other women who would come along, ensuring a permanent change in the industry. These days, many women own their own companies, and in many firms, women hold the majority of the sales positions.
When asked about entrepreneurship, Ms. Coleman is quick to say, “[it] keeps alive the American dream… You dream it. You make it happen.”
